Developing Basketball Skill Work

Developing Athletes. 

This is a necessity for schools (middle school, high school and next level programs) to have developing athletes added to their basketball rosters. The WDL will have a goal set to establish a precedence of having one of the best programs of developing student athletes. Making this a priority will capture the attention of many parents wanting their acquiring athlete to gain the best possible experience and training applicable 


1) Training. Training for the youth is very vital to the success of the league and program. This will help with the understanding and knowledge of the game and prevent coaches having to spend the whole practice session explaining each and every detail. Training will persist of drills, explanations, the teaching of the reasons different situations may happen, and how they can counter on their reactions. 


  

Preseason Training.

All participants of the WDL will be required to attend the preseason training leading up to the season. This will be a vital part of the athlete building and getting better individually before getting better with teammates. When the season comes around all players should be able to have a strong foundation to enter games. There’s not enough time during practices to go back over simple details that the player should already have down. The preseason training workouts will consist of many different techniques and fundamental skill work needed to enhance their play each year. These workouts will consist of:


Speed and Agility

Balance

Plyomet­­­rics

Athletic Games

Cardio

Body/Weight Training

Mental Drills
